Center for Healthy Aging Research

The Center for Healthy Aging Research provides innovative and interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach that enhances health and quality of life for older adults, their families, and communities. Our Oregon State University scholars come together from across disciplines to investigate the aging process from the basic science of neurological disease to fall prevention to health care systems. We dig deep to understand how biological, psychological, social, and physical factors affect the aging process. This leads to discovering new methods for preventing disease and helping older adults live their healthiest and most fulfilling lives.

Major activities of the center are:

Scientific Interaction and Collaboration:
The Center studies all aspects of aging, from cells to caregivers. We connect Center researchers with each other across disciplines and encourage aging research inside and outside of the Center.

Training and Learning:
We train the next generation of aging scholars. The Center supports undergraduate and graduate students’ involvement in research and their travel to scientific conferences. We are also developing training plans in focused areas including lifespan cognitive development, decline, and dementia.

Connecting Community and Scientists:
Community members and Center scientists can teach each other about the aging process and aging well. We provide opportunities for community members to participate in aging research and, in turn, provide trustworthy information about aging to community members.

Your support will strengthen our impact as we celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2025.
